The Theory of Time No One Ever Talks About

I was a big physics nerd back in school.

Stephen Hawking used to be my favorite author in fact.

So, I once read this theory about TIME in one of his books. According to it, whenever you’re around something that is really BIG or HUGE or HEAVY, time will slow down (in your reference). Similarly, if things around you are TINY or NOT heavy, then, TIME will pass really quickly in that case.

I never understood this though. Neither did I ever take it seriously. I mean, in spite of admiring Hawking for all of the work he has done, I just couldn’t agree with this theory.

To counter it, imagine, you’re in space. You hardly have any things around you (near you, to be specific) and because of gravity, everything is light. But that doesn’t make the time fast for the ones working at the space station, right? Or for the Astronauts, right? It’s vice-versa, in fact.

Let me be very clear here though, this article, in no way, is about cosmology or how things work out there in the space. It’s actually about TIME!

Yesterday, I had a plan with that same Bumble date I wrote about (read here), to go to the Gurudwara first and then, to the stand-up show of Ramya Ramapriya at Akshara Theatre.

Actually, I started writing this article yesterday at around 1 noon, as we had decided to meet at 3. But then, something came up and I couldn’t complete it, so here it is! Getting published at the wrong time.

But hey, what is it actually about?

To be honest, even I don’t know.

The reason could be the time between 1–3 that was passing too damn slowly. Or it could be the excitement to go to a standup act with her. Or to the Gurudwara. Or it could be anything… It’s just, time was passing too darn slowly, and thus, here is how I made it past.
